Temporary Suspension of Bus Route 6

Due to an unexpected and critical shortage of school bus drivers, SD64 Transportation has made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend Bus Route 6, effective Monday, September 21, 2026.

To help minimize disruption, students who normally ride Route 6 along Upper Ganges Road will be accommodated on Bus Route 5. Families affected by this change will be contacted directly with any necessary route or pickup adjustments.

We recognize that this decision will create challenges for many families and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this staffing shortage. Like many school districts across British Columbia, SD64 continues to experience challenges recruiting and retaining qualified school bus drivers. The safety and reliability of student transportation remain our highest priorities.

SD64 is actively recruiting casual and substitute bus drivers and encourages anyone holding a valid Class 2 driver's licence to apply through the School District website. The District also offers assistance to qualified individuals interested in obtaining the licensing required to become a school bus driver.
