Our District is seeking dynamic individuals with expertise who are looking for a career in our schools and district departments. School District No. 64 (Gulf Islands) invites applications for substitute/casual work in the following areas:


Educational Assistants for all district schools - $32.76 per hour

The Education Assistant is responsible for assisting the teacher and the students in developing strategies to achieve academic, behavioural, and social goals on an as-and-when-required basis. Support services will be provided for pupils with special needs who may require direct physical assistance.  Please complete and submit the application form for this position.


Early Childhood Education (ECE) Program Facilitators for all district schools - $32.76 per hour

The ECE oversees the day-to-day operations for the StrongStart BC program and/or the Seamless Day program. The ECE creates and facilitates the StrongStart program environment where parents and caregivers participate in an interactive, play-based environment alongside their children. In the Seamless Day program, the ECE leads after-school care and works in partnership with the kindergarten teacher in the classroom.


Bus Drivers for Salt Spring & Pender Islands - $30.98 per hour

A School Bus Driver is a rewarding, worthwhile occupation with a fair wage, shorter days and less-than-average work hours throughout the week. Training and certification is available for successful applicants. Building Service Workers for all district schools - $28.53 per hour

You will have the opportunity to work at a variety of the district's schools and facilities on a casual basis. The work involves performing routine cleaning duties in a designated area of responsibility. Substitute Building Service Workers provide coverage for short-term leaves and additional support during special projects.


Information Technology Assistants for all district schools - $32.76 per hour

Working across all district sites, the Information Technology Assistant supports the IT department by assisting with installing, configuring, and maintaining local area networks and related technologies.
