SD64 | Administrative Announcement - May 28, 2026

To the Education Community of the Gulf Islands School District,

On behalf of the Board of Education for School District 64 (Gulf Islands), I am pleased to share the following administrative announcements. Effective August 1, 2026:

Kaz Lundgren is appointed Principal of Gulf Islands Secondary School. Kaz has served as a principal for the past four years and has been a teacher in the district since 2015. Kaz brings a strong commitment to learner-centred education and to building positive school cultures grounded in strong collaboration, meaningful relationships with staff, and shared responsibility for student success. Her experience and leadership will serve Gulf Islands Secondary School well.

Jude Shugar is appointed Principal of Fulford Community Elementary School. Jude is currently Vice-Principal of Gulf Islands Secondary School and has worked in the district since 2000. With 11 years administrative experience, Jude demonstrates thoughtful leadership, a restorative approach, and a deep commitment to students. Jude’s ability to build relationships and bring people together will be a great fit for the Fulford Community Elementary School community.

Both Kaz and Jude are respected leaders who care deeply about students and about the communities they serve. Please join me in wishing them every success in their new roles.
