Administrative Announcements 23-02-13

On behalf of School District No. 64 (Gulf Islands), I would like to make the following administrative announcements:

Leave and Retirements

• Michael Berendt (Principal Fernwood Elementary School) and Brenda Lepine (Principal Galiano Community School) will be retiring at the end of the current school year
• Secretary Treasurer Jesse Guy will be taking a parental leave of absence expected to commence April 1, 2023

Administrative Appointments effective August 1, 2023

• Marie Mullen – Principal of Fernwood Elementary School
• Kaz Lundgren – Principal of Fulford Community Elementary School
• Adrian Pendergast – District Principal, Outer Islands
• Margot Landahl – Principal Pender Islands Elementary Secondary School and Principal of Saturna Elementary School

Administrative Changes at the School Board Office

• Superintendent Scott Benwell – additional role of Acting Secretary Treasurer (expected effective April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024)
• Lori Deacon – Acting Director of Corporate Services (expected effective April 1, 2023 to March 31,2024)
• Pierrette Hodnett – temporary Executive Assistant to the Superintendent and Board of Education (expected effective March 13, 2023 to March 31, 2024)
• D’Arcy Deacon – Deputy Superintendent effective April 1, 2023
• Boe Beardsmore – Associate Superintendent effective April 1, 2023

The district is conducting a process for filling administrative vacancies at Mayne and Galiano Schools. The early announcement of these changes is intended to facilitate successful transitions and high-quality replacement strategies. We wish each of those moving into new roles or on to new adventures all of the best in the upcoming school year.
