Honouring Remembrance Day
Lest We Forget: Reflecting Together as a School Community
Each year, on 11 November, communities across Canada gather to honour and remember the courageous individuals who served—and continue to serve—our country in times of conflict and peace. Remembrance Day is a time for us at SD64 to pause, reflect, and express our gratitude for the sacrifices made by veterans, service members, and their families.
Today, students and staff across our district are taking part in ceremonies, art projects, and classroom discussions to deepen our understanding of Remembrance Day. These activities offer opportunities to listen, learn, and express our appreciation in meaningful ways, ensuring that the stories of bravery and sacrifice are never forgotten.
We encourage everyone—students, families, and community members—to take time to reflect on the meaning of Remembrance Day. Whether you attend a local ceremony, share stories with friends and loved ones, or simply observe a quiet moment, your participation helps keep the legacy of remembrance alive.
As we mark Remembrance Day, let us carry forward the lessons of courage, sacrifice, and unity into our daily lives. May our actions, both big and small, reflect the gratitude we hold for those who have served, and inspire us to build a more peaceful and inclusive community for generations to come.
