A Day to Honour Indigenous Veterans | November 8th

Indigenous Veterans Day

On Saturday, November 8th, we pause to honour and remember the courage, sacrifice, and contributions of Indigenous veterans across Canada. Indigenous peoples have served with distinction in every major conflict, often overcoming significant barriers to enlist and serve their country.

Their legacy is one of resilience, bravery, and commitment to peace.

On this day, we acknowledge the challenges and hardships Indigenous veterans endured during and after their service, and we express our deepest gratitude for their dedication. Despite persistent systemic barriers, discrimination, and challenges, Indigenous veterans stepped forward with bravery and resilience, standing shoulder to shoulder with their comrades in arms.

Let us remember the stories of Indigenous veterans whose contributions and sacrifices have often gone unrecognized and whose communities continue to seek justice and equality today. Let us take time to learn, reflect, and ensure their stories continue to be shared and celebrated.

We remember. We honour. We are deeply thankful.
