We would like to acknowledge that we gather on the ancestorial and unceded territory of the Hul'q'umi'num and SENCOTEN speaking people. In our futures we strive to connect deeper with this community, always have respect for living things and always share these learnings wherever we can. A territorial acknowledgment is not something to get out of way, but a small act of apology that can hopefully inspire deeper and more meaningful change through reconciliation and understanding.

GET EXPERIENCE in an exciting career program: Visit the Work Experience table Friday at Club Days or pick up an information package from the Career Center this week.

2. Mini-Med Workshop Series - hosted by BC Children's Hospital & local medical professionals

3. Volunteer in the community at the Public Library, in Senior centers, Youth centers and Daycares, or make an environmental impact with the Transition Saltspring team.

Attention all music students interested in joining Choir, Jazz Band/Jazz Combo, and or Grade 8 Concert band this year - there will be a meeting to discuss rehearsal times TODAY in the music room, bring your lunch, the meeting will start just after the lunch bell.

Cross Country Running: Interested in joining the Cross-Country Running team this year? Come to a brief information and sign-up meeting today at the start of lunch in front of the gym. Everyone is welcome!

Interested in joining the VEX Robotics Team this year? Sign up at Clubs Day this Friday in the courtyard, or join us for our first afternoon next Tuesday, September 15th after school in the Library.

Any Grade 10-12 Leadership students - please check your emails. If you do not have an email from Mme Wiigs but you would like to be in Leadership, please email her or visit her in room s212. Any Leadership students available to help sell pizza at lunch, please meet in the multi.

Attention Outer Island Students

Reminder: the afterschool water taxi leaves at 4:20 p.m., just 15 minutes after the final bell, so head straight to the dock, because the boat won't wait.

Student Council: Want to make a difference at Gulf Islands Secondary? Join Student Council! Develop leadership skills, represent the student voice, earn extra credit, and build experience that looks great on resumes and scholarship applications. All students are welcome. Yearbooks: Yearbooks go on sale every Tuesday at the start of lunch throughout September, beginning next week. Thanks to the success of last year's yearbook, we've lowered the price this year. Purchase your yearbook during September for just $40. After September, the price increases to $50.

There is some good in this world, and it is worth fighting for.
