'Uy' Netulh|Good Morning,

We would like to acknowledge that we gather on the ancestorial and unceded territory of the Hul'q'umi'num and SENCOTEN speaking people. In our futures we strive to connect deeper with this community, always have respect for living things and always share these learnings wherever we can. A territorial acknowledgment is not just something to get out of way, but a small act of apology that can hopefully inspire deeper and more meaningful change through reconciliation and understanding.

Racing season is officially underway for our rowers, and they started strong this weekend at the Maple Bay Regatta. After training hard since September, our athletes were excited to take to the waterways for their first competition of the season. Heats were held on Saturday, and all boats advanced to the semifinals with  11 boats in the finals on Sunday. Excellent racing by everyone, job well done!

A special shout‑out goes to the U17 Women’s Coxed Quad—Juniper M., Anabelle, CC, Wren, and Ruby W—who brought home their first win of the season, finishing with open water ahead of a very competitive field. Congratulations on an outstanding performance!

Attention Grads! The annual Grad breakfast is this Thursday at 8:54am in the Caf. Come enjoy a free pancake breakfast and learn about all the upcoming Grad Events. See you all there

Senior Girls Soccer is happening!

Well done to the Senior Girls Soccer team on their hard fought battle against Shawnigan on Friday! Melody and her defence kept Shawnigan at bay, while Kadence supplied the assist to Saoirse for the girls to win 1-0.

Senior Girls Soccer Week sees two home games this week at GISS. Brentwood are first up tomorrow, Tuesday, for a 3:30 kick off and your support is appreciated.

The film is a documentary (not yet released publicly) called 9/11: Reclaiming Ground Zero. But the film isn’t about the events of 9/11, NYC, or even about America – it’s about the inspiring results of a divided city finding common ground. It’s a beautiful story of democracy that worked. And, it's an inspiration that Salt Spring Island might be able to learn from. After the film, a group of experienced leaders will discuss what it takes to build a healthy local democracy.

Please come by the office to scan the QR code to get your free ticket
