A Spooktacular Week at PIESS!

There was plenty of excitement brewing at PIESS this week as students embraced the spirit of Halloween through fun, teamwork, and a few opportunities to be brave!

A huge thank you goes to Mike at Tru Valu for his generous donation of pumpkins. Thanks to his support, students across the school were able to enjoy a memorable pumpkin-carving experience. Our Grade 8 students pulled double duty as they rolled up their sleeves to help our Kindergarten/Grade 1 and Grade 1/2/3 classes scoop, gut, and carve their pumpkins. From slippery seeds to creative jack-o'-lantern faces, the older students demonstrated patience, leadership, and kindness while helping their younger peers bring their spooky creations to life.

Meanwhile, our Grade 4 and Grade 7 students faced a different kind of Halloween fright: the Foundation Skills Assessment (FSA). While the tests may have seemed a little scary at first, students showed perseverance, confidence, and a positive attitude as they tackled the challenge. In the end, the FSAs proved not to be nearly as terrifying as they first appeared! We will continue with FSAs next week!

The week wrapped up with our annual Halloween Parade. Students and staff filled the hallways with an incredible assortment of costumes, laughter, and Halloween spirit. The parade was so lively that it almost woke the sleeping babes next door at Dragonfly Daycare! From superheroes and animals to spooky creatures and creative homemade costumes, everyone enjoyed the chance to celebrate together as a school community.

As Halloween approaches, we wish all PIESS families a fun, safe, and happy Halloween. We would also like to remind everyone about the Spooky Walk at Camp Cowbell, taking place from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. All brave students and their families are invited to attend for an evening of Halloween fun and frightful adventures!
