End Of Year message from Principal and Vice Principal
As we conclude another wonderful school year, we want to take a moment to reflect on the many accomplishments, achievements, and moments of growth that have made this year so special. We are incredibly proud of our students, staff, families, and community for the dedication, resilience, and care that have helped our school thrive.
This year marked important progress toward our School Growth Plan goals. One significant achievement was the implementation of universal reading screeners for all Kindergarten to Grade 3 students. These assessments help us identify student needs early, provide timely supports, and strengthen classroom instruction to ensure every learner has the opportunity to succeed.
We also saw tremendous gains in our Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) goal. Through our continued focus on belonging, respect, and positive relationships, we observed students demonstrating stronger conflict-resolution skills. We are especially pleased that every student had the opportunity to share their voice through our end-of-year student survey. The results showed very high levels of belonging and safety, confirming what we see every day in a school community where students feel valued, supported, and connected.
Our leadership team was new this year, and together they achieved many successes in building a cohesive school community and ensuring that student voice remained an important part of decision making. We are grateful for their commitment and leadership.Students enjoyed a wide variety of extracurricular opportunities this year. New clubs such as the Pride Club, Fun Club, Drawing Club, Baseball Club, and many others provided students with opportunities to connect, learn, and pursue their interests. We also celebrated successes in Battle of the Books, Basketball, Volleyball, Track and Field, and Cross Country, demonstrating the incredible talent and enthusiasm of our students.
Special experiences enriched learning throughout the year, including our memorable planetarium visits, Indigenous education opportunities, and our Earth Day whole-school community garbage clean-up, where students demonstrated environmental stewardship and pride in their community.
We are especially grateful for the ongoing support of our Parent Advisory Council (PAC). Their generosity of time, energy, and resources has had a meaningful impact on our students and school programs. Thank you for all you do to strengthen our school community . As part of our commitment to truth, reconciliation, and equity, staff participated in learning alongside an Elder, creating drums together while deepening their understanding of residential schools and exploring ways to further increase equity and inclusion within our school. These experiences have strengthened our collective commitment to creating a welcoming environment where all students feel seen, respected, and supported.
To our Grade 7 students, we extend our heartfelt congratulations. We are so proud of all you have accomplished and wish you every success as you begin your next adventure in secondary school. Continue to be curious, courageous, and kind; we know you will do amazing things. As we look ahead, we would like to acknowledge and thank several staff members who are moving on to new opportunities: Linda McDaniel, Gabby Budden, Marla Renn, Emma Binstead, Trish Faurot, Janelle Dixon, Jen McLean, and Valeska San Martin, who embarks on a year of travel. Thank you for the contributions you have made to our school community; you will be greatly missed, and we wish you all the very best.
At the same time, we are excited to welcome new members to our team for the 2026–2027 school year. Please join us in welcoming Allan MacLean and Meghan Montgomery to intermediate teaching positions, as well as Anne-Marie Belanger to our French Immersion program.
As summer begins, we hope every family enjoys time to rest, recharge, and make wonderful memories together. Thank you for your partnership, support, and trust throughout the year. It hasbeen a privilege to work alongside such an incredible community.
We look forward to welcoming our returning students, families, and staff back in September foranother exciting year of learning, growth, and connection.
