Dear Gulf Islands Secondary Students and Families,
We hope this message finds you well and that you're enjoying your summer break! As the new school year approaches, we wanted to inform you that starting today, the school office is officially open for the 2024-2025 school year. If you have any pressing questions or concerns, please feel free to email giss@sd64.org, call 250-537-9944 or visit the school during our opening office hours (Monday-Thursday, 9am-3pm). We’re here to help!
Important Dates & Information:
Monday, August 26th: Watch for our official ‘Welcome Back’ email, packed with all the essential details for school start-up. This will include instructions on how to access student schedules via the MyEd portal, information on course changes, lockers, school supplies, and fees.
Thursday, August 29th, at 9am: The Student and Family MyEd Portals will open. This is when students can view their schedules, including class assignments, teacher names, and room numbers. More details will be provided in next week’s Welcome Email.
Save the Date!
Thursday, August 29, 2024:
Grade 8s and New GISS Student Welcome: 11am Info Session in the Multi-Purpose Room, followed by Student Package pick-up and optional guided tours.
Grades 9-12: Drop-in between 12pm-2pm for Student Package pick-up and self-guided tours of the school.
Please note: These sessions are optional. If you cannot attend, your Student Package will be provided on the first day of school, Tuesday, September 3rd.
First Day of School: Tuesday, September 3rd, at 8:54am. We’re excited to welcome everyone back for a year full of learning and growth!
